THE CONFÉDÉRATION GÉNÉRALE DES ENTREPRISES DE CÔTE D'IVOIRE TALKS WITH THE TOP MANAGEMENT OF THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY
The Top Management of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) was holding a series of meetings with port users to discuss the revision of port charges for certain goods.
On Tuesday 08 October 2024, the Managing Director of PAA, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, met with a delegation from the Confédération Générale des Entreprises de Côte d'Ivoire (CGECI- General confederation of companies in Côte d’Ivoire) led by Mrs. Rose DON MELO, President of the Customs and Integration Commission of that employers' organisation.
According to Mrs. DON MELO, it was necessary for the most representative organisation of the private sector in Côte d'Ivoire to come and find out the reasons behind the tariff revision.
Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, who welcomed CGECI's initiative, took the opportunity to recall the major investments made over the past decade to modernise the Abidjan Port, with the aim of making it more efficient and more competitive, and thus meeting the needs of its customers, including CGECI members.
At the end of cordial and fruitful exchanges, the two parties undertook to continue discussions within a committee set up for that purpose, with a view to finding agreements that would benefit all parties.
Prior to the meeting, the Port Authority met with other organisations, namely the SNGTIVO (New generation union of used vehicle forwarders and importers in Côte d'Ivoire and the GIPAME (Interprofessional group for automobiles, materials and equipment manufacturers), to discuss the same issue.
