A DELEGATION OF UNESCO CHAIR ¨ EAU, FEMMES ET POUVOIRS ¨ INTRODUCED ITS OFFERS TO THE PORT AUTHORITY
On Wednesday 03 may 2023 , Mr Hien Yacouba SIE Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority sponsor of the 5th clas of experts in gender of UNESCO chair EFPOD( water –women and decision –making power) organized an information session with a delegation of the said Chair led by Mrs Valery NTAKPE SERI in charge of business development.
This meeting of exchange was the opportunity for the chair to introduce to the port authority gender and development approach as well as underlining the importance of its implementation in companies.
Mr Alexis TCHIAKPE ,Administrator made a presentation of UNESCO chair-EFPOD which Mrs Minister Euphrasie KOUASSI YAO is the holder,and Dr YAO KOFFI Blaise the co-holder.He indicated that the training in gender provided by the Chair aims at promoting the fight against gender inequalities in different fields. To this end the Chair is responsible for capacity building of corporate executives in gender,through skills training and development activities.
Mrs Veronique BAKAYOKO from the same organization ,drew up the catalog of the different courses,namely the training seminar for decision makers ( 3 or 5 days) engineering in gender ( 9 months training )and the Saturdays sessions of the Chair ( about 4 hours every week end ).As a new course,a Master in Gender Economy,and Sustaimable Management of Water is Proposed.
Mr Gerard ATTOUNGBRE presented the GECE Certification (Gender and Conpetitiveness of Companies) which makes it possible to address gender inequalities and disparities in order to enable any company which commits to it to get this label.
As in any certification ,a company which wants to be certified should follow several steps.This labelling aims at bringing credibility to the certified company,which in turn will be able to obtain benefits from international organizations.
The representatives of UNESCO Chair –EFPOD concluded their presentationby pointing out that their training leads to the setting up of gender units in business, so as to reduce the gap between men and women,while keeping hope that Abidjan Port Authority continues this process until obtaining the label.
Following the presentation, the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority stated that he was willing to get the benefits from the knowledge that his collaborators would gain through the training in gender engineering and thus succeeds in framing gender in Abidjan Port Authority
He hopes that the learners will gain sufficient knowledge and mastery to engage Abidjan Port Authority in GECE Certification prospect.
Let us recall that ten Abidjan Port Authority’s workers,6 women including Dr TITI PALE, Commercial Marketing and Communication Director and 4 male workers were registered as listeners of the 6 th class for gender engineering training of UNESCO Chair ¨ water,women and decision making power¨
