DESERVED TRIBUTE: RETIREES OF THE ABIDJAN PORT HONOURED
On Friday, May 23, 2025, the Mutual Association of Abidjan Port Employees (MAPAA) organized a recognition ceremony at the Abidjan Port Authority’s (PAA) headquarters to honour 32 employees who retired between 2024 and 2025.
This highly emotional moment was highlighted by the speech of Mrs. SYLLA BAKAYOKO Maty, MAPAA Executive Secretary and Deputy Director of the Finance and Accounting Department. She expressed deep gratitude to these employees who served the Port with loyalty and professionalism over many years in pursuit of its strategic goals.
“On behalf of MAPAA, I want to thank you. Thank you for everything you contributed to our institution. You were more than just employees—you were pillars of our collective success,” she declared.
Mrs. SYLLA BAKAYOKO Maty concluded her remarks by expressing MAPAA’s aspiration, with the support of its Board Chairman Mr. DAH Sansan, to assist retirees by implementing a health coverage plan tailored to their needs.
Following her speech, Mr. DAH Sansan, Director of Administrative, Legal and Litigation Affairs and Chairman of the MAPAA Board, also extended his appreciation: “The legacy you leave behind is a thriving, ambitious port—handling over 40 million tonnes of goods and resolutely moving towards becoming a major hub on Africa’s Atlantic coast.”
The ceremony continued with the symbolic handover of cheques and honorary diplomas to each honouree, in recognition of their dedication and years of service to the institution.
Grateful for the gesture, the spokesperson for the retirees, Mr. BILÉ KOFFI Jean—former Secretary General of the Abidjan Port Workers Union—expressed, on behalf of all recipients, heartfelt thanks to MAPAA for this special tribute. He also hoped that this recognition would translate into continuous support, especially through the effective implementation of health coverage dedicated to retirees.
