THE EBRD EXPLORES INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT THE PORT OF ABIDJAN

At the proposal of the Ministry of Finance and Budget, a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), visiting Côte d’Ivoire for a prospecting mission, was received for a working session on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, by Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ Managing, Director of Abidjan Port Authority.

The two EBRD investment experts, Mr. Gabriel de LESTOURS and Mr. Goncalo CORRELA, indicated that their financial institution plans to open an office in Côte d’Ivoire this year to support the country's development by financing promising projects.

Mr. Hien SIÉ, in his opening remarks, thanked the financiers for their interest in the Port of Abidjan. He then presented the infrastructure developments undertaken since 2012 before highlighting projects still awaiting funding, such as barge transport, the construction of a new bulk terminal or the modernization of the existing one, the development of superstructures and the supply of equipment for the new Grain Terminal, and finally, the construction of crossing structures (tunnels and roads) over the Vridi Canal to access the port’s land reserves on the western strip and Boulay Island.

Both parties, sharing a strong interest in these projects, agreed to continue discussions in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
