END OF THE 4TH TRAINING COURSE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIADS: THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY REAFFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT ALONGSIDE THE MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY OF CÔTE D’IVOIRE
The 4th edition of the training course for the International Mathematics Olympiads, which opened on Monday, January 5, 2025, came to an end on Saturday, January 10, 2025, during an official closing ceremony held at the "Centre des Métiers de l’Electricité de Bingerville (CME).
The General Management of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) honored the ceremony with its presence, thereby reaffirming its commitment to initiatives promoting academic excellence.
On this occasion, the Director Managing General of PAA, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, was represented by Mr. MONI N’GUESSAN Hyacinthe, Director of Infrastructure and Project Management of the port authority.
As a partner of the Mathematical Society of Côte d’Ivoire (SMCI), the Abidjan Port Authority reiterates, through its participation, its constant commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting excellence in mathematical sciences in Côte d’Ivoire. This collaboration illustrates the strategic role that major Ivorian economic institutions can play in the development of human capital and the promotion of academic excellence.
Organized by the Mathematical Society of Côte d’Ivoire (SMCI), in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), this intensive training camp aimed to train 23 students, six of whom will represent Côte d’Ivoire at the upcoming Pan-African and International Mathematics Olympiads.
In his address, the representative of the Managing Director of PAA commended the quality of the work carried out year after year by the SMCI and MIT. He reaffirmed the port authority’s willingness to continue supporting this structuring program for the country’s scientific future.
He also paid tribute to Professor Saliou TOURÉ, President of SMCI, for his unwavering commitment to academic and scientific excellence in Côte d’Ivoire.
Addressing the students, he praised the skills acquired during the training, which constitute major assets for their success both in international competitions and in their academic and professional careers.
Having become a key event for mathematics enthusiasts, the SMCI–MIT training programme once again brought together students, teachers, and researchers for enriching exchanges and high-level training sessions.
This initiative is fully in line with a dynamic aimed at promoting national scientific skills and preparing the next generation in mathematical disciplines.
The closing ceremony ended with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
