End of Dockers’ strike at the Abidjan and San Pedro Ports
On strike today, Friday 17 December 2021 from 00:00, dockers resumed their work the same day following a meeting with the Abidjan Port Authority Top Management, under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport represented by the Vice Minister, Mr. Dioman CONE, and in the presence of the Labor Inspection represented by Mrs. Djaponon Marie Rose MESSOU.
In a declaration, Mr. GUEI ADEIKA, 1st Secretary General of FENAD CI said, “Regarding the guarantees the Ministry of Transport and the Port Authority gave as for their firm involvement in creating proper conditions to address our problems recorded in the minutes, the national federation of dockers of Côte d’Ivoire (FENAD CI) suspends then, from today, Friday 17 December 2021, the strike, and thereby ask all the dockers of the Abidjan and San Pedro Ports to resume their work by now.”
While continuing his declaration, Mr. GUEI thanked the President of the Republic, His Excellence Mister Alassane OUATTARA, who, according to him, issued a decree in 2019 to improve the life and working conditions of dockers in Côte d’Ivoire.
He also hailed the commitment of Mr. Amadou KONE, Minister of Transport, as well as the Managing Directors of the Abidjan and San Pedro Port Authorities to enforcing effectively the said decree.
