FIGHT AGAINST THE HIGH COST OF LIVING: THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF TRADE ACTORS OF CÔTE D'IVOIRE EXCHANGES WITH THE PORT AUTHORITY

The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, received on Tuesday 11 October 2022, the National Federation of Trade Actors of Côte d'Ivoire (FENACCI) led by its Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Honorable Farikou SOUMAHORO.

Concerned by the high cost of living, this umbrella organization, which brings together the country's traders, proposed, in a White Paper proposals and recommendations to provide solutions to this social problem.

According to Mr. Lamine OUATTARA, Executive Director of the commission in charge of the fight against the high cost of living, the Abidjan Port is at the heart of the operational mechanism of the trade chain in Côte d'Ivoire. As such, this meeting was an opportunity not only to officially hand over a copy of this document to the Port Authority but also to express the gratitude of the federation with regard to the support it receives from the port.

Mr. Hien SIÉ welcomed this initiative of FENACCI which allows the creation of a framework for exchanges so that sustainable responses are proposed to reduce the cost of living. He indicated that the issue of the high cost of living is everyone’s concern. However, he stressed that the general increase in the price of goods on the markets is not due to the Abidjan Port Authority which for over ten years has maintained its rates at the same level, precisely to contribute to the policy of national solidarity advocated by the government.
