HANDING OVER OF GRANTS OF THE ABIDJAN PORT COMMUNITY TO THE GOVERNMENT AS PART OF THE FIGHT AGAINST THE SPREAD OF COVID 19
As part of the fight against the covid 19 pandemic, the Abidjan Port Community (CPA) organized a ceremony to hand over donations of food and non -food items to the Ivorian Government valued at 263,069,500 CFAF, on 05 th August 2020 at Seamen’s club in Treichville.
The contribution of CPA to support the efforts of the Ivorian Government was distributed among the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Cohesion and Fight Against Poverty for an amount of 114,979,500 CFAF, the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection for an amount of 23,150,000 CFAF, the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene for an amount of 24,000,000 CFAF, the Ministry of Transport for an amount 29,998,000 CFAF, the Ministry of Defence for an amount of 23,150,000 CFAF ; 49,598,000 CFAF have been allocated for the procurement of a DNA and protein extractor in order to increase the testing capacity in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research ( Institut pasteur de Côte d’Ivoire)
The donations were received by the Ministers and representatives of recipient Ministries.
On behalf of the recipients, Mrs Marietou KONE, Minister of Solidarity, Social Cohesion and Fight Against Poverty, thanked CPA which, through this donation of great social signifiance, has demonstrated its Commitment in the fight against this coronavirus pandemic.
Mr Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority and also Chairman of the Abidjan Port Community (CPA) recalled that this civic contribution responds to the call of His Excellency Mr Alassane OUATARRA, President of the Republic for the mobilization of financial resources in order to ensure the preventive measures of the populations.
Mr Amadou KONE, Minister of Transport took the opportunity to thank all the companies of the Abidjan Port’s Platform, which have to adapt to the new environment of health crisis, so as to be able to ensure the sustainability of their activity, and to enable Côte d’Ivoire to continue its development.
