On Monday, December 16, 2024, during a formal ceremony at the "Lougah François Hall" of the "Palais de la Culture in Treichville", the State of Côte d’Ivoire recognized the dedication of 377 employees of Abidjan Port Authority by awarding them honorary work medals for their professional contributions.
This exceptional event, which celebrates excellence and commitment within this strategic Ivorian institution, was held under the patronage of the Minister of Employment and Social Protection, Master Adama KAMARA, and co-sponsored by the Minister of Transport, Mr. Amadou KONÉ; the Minister of Finance and Budget, Mr. Adama COULIBALY; and the Minister of State Assets, Public Portfolio, and Public Enterprises, Mr. Moussa SANOGO.
The ceremony was graced by several political, economic, and other distinguished guests.
A total of 142 women and 235 men, each with at least 15 years of loyal service, were awarded medals in different categories. This included 17 Grand Gold Medals for employees with over 35 years of service, 34 Gold Medals for those with 30 years, 59 Vermeil Medals for 25 years, and 267 Silver Medals for 15 years of service.
The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, himself a recipient, used his opening address to thank his Excellency President Alassane OUATTARA for his transformative leadership, which has enabled Abidjan Port to achieve a sustainable position as a leading port in West Africa through ambitious projects. He also acknowledged the significant reforms in the maritime sector led by the Minister of Transport.
Mr. SIÉ expressed gratitude to all PAA employees, without whom the institution’s challenges and objectives would not be met. Speaking directly to the honorees, he urged them to continue their efforts to make the Abidjan Port more competitive.
“Recognition of merit should not be seen as the end of a process but rather as the beginning of a new contract with the nation, aiming to contribute further to its development and serve as role models for future generations of workers,” he stated.
Representing the Minister of Transport, Chief of Staff Mr. CONE Djoman lauded the consistent achievements of the Abidjan Port. He emphasized that these accomplishments are due to the collective efforts of the Port Authority's employees and all members of the Abidjan port community, whose synergy and expertise have significantly boosted the port's performance and competitiveness.
On behalf of the honorees, Mrs. DUNCAN Monique (née BIDIA), Deputy Director of Human Resources, expressed gratitude to the State of Côte d’Ivoire for this recognition.
The ceremony's chair, Minister Adama KAMARA, highlighted the importance of this tribute to PAA employees. He congratulated them for their dedication and encouraged them to continue their efforts to elevate Abidjan Port as a strategic tool for Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth. He also commended Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ for his visionary leadership in realizing the development agenda set by President Alassane OUATTARA.
This memorable day will remain etched in the minds of those honored as a token of appreciation for their years of dedication to achieving the goals of the Abidjan Port Authority.
