IMMERSION VISIT OF THE ABIDJAN PORT BY OFFICERS OF THE NIGERIA’S AIR FORCE WAR SCHOOL

Military cooperation between the State of Côte d’Ivoire and the Federal Republic of Nigeria is getting stronger.

As proof, on Wednesday July 27, 2022, on the initiative of the Ministry of state, Ministry of Defense, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority received a large delegation of senior civil servants and military officers from the Nigeria’s Air force War School, led by Mr. OLATUNDE Sayo, Major General.

During the discussions, the head of the Nigerian delegation stated that the mission in Côte d’Ivoire which started on july, 24, 2022, was part of a study trip for officer cadets with a view to using the Ivorian model as a reference in terms of security.

Moreover, General OLATUNDE mentioned that the trip serves two purposes, namely maintain cooperation ties prevailing between the Nigerian and Ivorian armed forces, and collectively analyse the security challenges which the African west subregion has been faced with.

Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE, welcoming the initiative of the visit to Abidjan Port, which is not the first of its kind, maintained that the Institution which he leads is willing to support all the cooperation initiatives between the states of west Africa in order to address security problems. Particulary, as these problems have an impact on maritime transport with the scourge of  acts of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. The visit ended by a touring of the port facilities.
