INTERNATIONAL WORKERS’ DAY CELEBRATED AT THE ABIDJAN PORT
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, employees of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) gathered at the Seamen’s Club in Abidjan-Treichville to celebrate International Workers’ Day in a warm and festive atmosphere. The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, was represented on this occasion by Mrs. TRAORÉ Salimata Aurore Epse SILUÉ, Director of Human Resources. She was accompanied by Dr. Titi PALÉ, Director of Commercial, Marketing and Communication; Mr. KOUADIO KOUASSI Jules, Director of Economic Studies, Strategy and Planning; Mr. Bamoussa OUATTARA, Director of Estate and Property Management; Mr. Almamy OUATTARA, Director of Finance and Accounting; and Mr. Tiémoko CHERIF, Director of Procurement and Stock Management.
The ceremony began with a blood donation drive initiated by the Top Management in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Center of Côte d’Ivoire (CNTS-CI).
In his speech, Mr. Jean DAMO, spokesperson for all three trade unions of PAA, praised the efforts already made by the Management for the welfare of workers. He also used the opportunity to present requests aimed at further improving working and living conditions, emphasizing the workers’ desire for greater recognition of their contributions to PAA’s success.
In response, Mrs. TRAORÉ Salimata Aurore Epse SILUÉ, speaking on behalf of the Managing Director, congratulated all employees for their role in achieving the port’s targets:
“I would like to commend all staff for the excellent results. We recorded total cargo traffic of 40.1 million tons—a 15.6% increase compared to the 34.7 million tons in 2023.”
As for the demands, she assured that the General Management would closely monitor all issues raised in order to provide clear and appropriate solutions:
“We will quickly review the projects already approved by the Board of Directors, and we will do our utmost to meet your expectations—rest assured.”
She concluded by encouraging staff to continue their efforts and strengthen team cohesion.
