A JAPANESE DELEGATION VISITS THE GRAIN TERMINAL AT ABIDJAN PORT
As part of a mission to Côte d'Ivoire to inspect projects funded by the Japanese government, a delegation comprising the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the House of Councillors “Deputies” visited the grain terminal of Abidjan Port on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Led by the Honorable YAMAMOTO Junzo, the delegation was received by the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, who took the opportunity to reiterate his thanks to JICA for the realization of this new infrastructure, operational since May 2023.
During a guided tour conducted by Mr. MONI N’guessan, Deputy Director of Engineering and Project Management, the delegation was able to note with satisfaction the efficient management and growth of activities at the terminal.
As a reminder, listed among the development projects aimed at the strategic repositioning of Abidjan Port, the new grain terminal was financed by the Japanese government through JICA, with an investment of 70 billion CFA francs. It covers 1,010 linear meters of quay and an area of 9 hectares, of which 7 hectares are dedicated to the construction of warehouses and storage silos.
Today, it enables the Port of Abidjan to accommodate ships carrying up to 70,000 tons, positioning it as a hub for redistributing grain traffic across the West African sub-region.
