LABOR DAY 2023 CELEBRATION: THE TOP MANAGEMENT AND THE UNIONS OF THE PAA STRENGTHEN THEIR PARTNERSHIP
The three (3) trade unions of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), namely the Unique Union of Abidjan Port Authority Workers (SUTRAPAA), the Free Union of Abidjan Port Authority Agents (SYLAPAA) and the Union Renewal of Abidjan Port Authority Agents (RESAPAA), organized, with the support of the Top Management of the PAA, the traditional Labor Day, 1 May 2023, at the Seamen's Club at Treichville, in Abidjan.
This ceremony was an opportunity for the three unions to express their gratitude to Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority, for all the social measures taken for the benefit of the workers since 2011, but also to draw up their demands for improved working and living conditions of the company's agents.
Following them, Mrs. Bidia Monique DUNCAN, Deputy Director, on behalf of Mrs. MÉITÉ Fofana Salimata , Director of Human Resources, indicated that she would faithfully transmit these claims to the Managing Director. She also reassured the social partners that their concerns were well understood and taken into account, while urging the agents to continue to work harder alongside the Top Management to achieve the company's objectives.
"New badge machines will be put in place to bring workers closer to the check-in points. Many of the workers' concerns are being resolved by the Top Management. (...) as for the decoration of workers, it is recorded and we stick to the schedule of the Ministry of Employment (...) a committee for the prevention of psycho-social risks has been set up in order to improve the quality of life of workers, to deal with the resumption of death assistance missions and the revaluation of death assistance. Concerning the revaluation of salaries linked to the increase of the minimum wage, the Top Management, taking into account the governmental provisions, indicated that it is waiting for the signature of the decree by the President of the Republic, before the effective application of this grid," she underlined in her remarks to the workers.
For his part, Mr. TOURÉ Zoumana, Director of Property and Estate, on behalf of the Managing Director, showed his pride in the individual and collective accountability of the agents, which enabled the PAA to achieve operational performance in 2022, despite the difficult context. "I salute and thank all PAA workers. The Managing Director, whom I represent, recognizes your value and your involvement at his side in the implementation of all major projects that have emerged at the Abidjan Port in recent years, and also in the various operational performances achieved, "he said.
The ceremony ended on a festive note with the performance of artists.
