MARITIME COOPERATION: A FRENCH MILITARY VESSEL CALLS AT THE ABIDJAN PORT
On Thursday 17 October 2024, the Abidjan Port welcomed a French military vessel, the ‘DIXMUDE’, which would be in port until 22 October.
Upon arrival, the Captain of the vessel, Jocelyn DELRIEU, accompanied by some members of the crew, took the opportunity of that stopover to visit the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), represented for the occasion by Mr. Macky SANGARÉ, Director of the Digital Information System (DSIN), at the PAA.
After the customary greetings, Captain Jocelyn DELRIEU indicated that his vessel was present in Ivorian waters for an operation with the navies bordering the Gulf of Guinea. According to him, the deployment of the ‘DIXMUDE’ reflects a desire to consolidate cooperation to meet the challenges of maritime security in that strategic region.
During the meeting, the Captain of the French military vessel also congratulated the Port Authority on the recent work to modernise the Abidjan Port and on the quality of the services provided to welcome ships.
For his part, Mr. Macky SANGARÉ wished all the members of the crew a pleasant stay and reassured them that all the appropriate measures were being taken to ensure that the stopover took place under the best possible conditions.
