MEDAL OF HONOUR FOR WORK : ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE MERIT OF 333 WORKERS OF ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY

On Thursday 15 February 2024, a double ceremony took place for the new year wishes and for long service award ceremony of Abidjan Port Authority’s workers.

The celebration took place in "Salle LOUGAH Francois du Palais de la Culture de Treichville" under the chairmanship of the Minister of Employment and Social Protection, Master Adama KAMARA and the co-sponsorship of Minister Amadou KONE in charge of Transports and Minister Moussa SANOGO in charge of Heritage, State Portfolio and Public Corporation .The Ceremony was enhanced by the presence of several political,academic and economic officials and by a large number of guests.

333 workers of Abidjan Port Authority including 97 female workers and 236 male workers totalling 15 to 37 years of career were rewarded for their hard work.

This event reflects the vision of the President of the Republic,his Excellency Mr .Alassane OUATTARA who works tirelessly to promote Excellence in all sectors of activity.

On that occasion, Minister Adama KAMARA expressed his pride in the lucky recipients and urged them to continue their efforts to promote Abidjan Port,a strategic tool for the development of the Ivorian economy

He seized the opportunity to greet the Minister of Transport for the major reforms carried out in the transport sector in Côte d’Ivoire.

The president of the ceremony also congratulated Mr Hien Yacouba SIE,Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority for his quality management which enabled Abidjan Port,not only to be a national pride but also to be an international reference.

Mr Hien Yacouba SIE who clearly was happy to celebrate his fellow workers spoke highly of them "Happy recipients of todays,your distinction are the results of your contribution to the emergence of a modern port such as Abidjan Port .You can take a legitimate pride and allow me to tell you that as the Managing Director ,I am pround of you" he stated.

Mr Hien SIE took avantage of his address to make a review of the past year.

He indicated that the year 2023 was a successful year for Abidjan Port which recorded an increase of 21% in the cargo traffic from 28.6 millions tons in 2022 to 34.8 millions tons in 2023.It is worth precising that the national traffic induced by a strong economy recorded 10% increase from 25.2 million tons in 2022 to 27.7million tons in 2023.

Mrs FOFANA Salimata epse MEITE ,Director of Human Resources of Abidjan Port Authority made the opening statement by extending first  her thanks to the authorities attending the ceremony.Then she recalled the social progress achieved in the company thanks to the efforts made by the Top Management.Lastly,she concluded by inviting all the staff to continue their efforts in order to reach the objectives included in the strategic vision defined by the Managing Director.

As regards the representatives of the recipients,Mrs DUNCAN Monique epouse BIDIA,Deputy Director of Human Resources,spoke on behalf of her peers and thanked the State of Côte d’Ivoire and the Top Management of PAA for this recognition.

Let’s recall that among these lucky recipients, 07 workers received the Big Gold Medal after 35 years of service,45 workers totalling 30 years in service received the Small Gold Medals,56 workers received the Medal of Vermeil after 25 years in service and 225 workers received the Silver Medal after 15 years of service.
