MILITARY COOPERATION: A FLEET OF CHINESE NAVY DOCKED AT ABIDJAN PORT
Within the framework of military cooperation between China and Côte d’Ivoire a fleet of the Chinese National Navy escort called to Abidjan Port, on 22 June 2023.
After the docking at the port, a delegation of the crew members led by Colonel Major YAN Lei, Defence Attache of the Chine Embassy to Côte d’Ivoire came to Abidjan Port Authority where it was received by Colonel COFFI Yao Emmanuel Director of Maritime Operations, Security and Environment, Harbour Master of Abidjan Port.
Colonel Major YAN Lee seized the occasion of this courtesy call to indicate that the fleet came to Côte d’Ivoire in order to reinforce military cooperation between the two Countries.
The Harbour Master of Abidjan Port welcomed the support provided by the Chinese Government to Côte d’Ivoire in the fight against maritime piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. To this end, he underlined that the pooling of military strategies and resources will enable to come up with a sustainable solution to this scourge detrimental to the economies of the countries of the sub-region.
