MISS MATHEMATICS COMPETITION: THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY, SPONSOR OF THE 18th EDITION.

The ″Lycée Sainte Marie de Cocody" hosted the official launching of the 18th edition of Miss Mathematics competition on 6th March 2024.

This school competition initiated by the Societé Mathematique de Côte d’Ivoire (SMCI) chaired by professor Saliou TOURE, is sponsored since 2022 by Mr Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA). This Competition is aimed at encouraging young girls to move to more scientific and technological subjects, and precisely, to mathematics, as pointed out in his address by Mr Hilaire ATTINDEHOU, President of the Miss Mathematics committee.

Mr ATTINDEHOU paid a well deserved tribute to the Top Manager of PAA who signed a sponsorship agreement since 2023 in order to provide an annual financial support of 25 million CFA Francs to Société Mathematique de Côte d’Ivoire up to 2027.

The chairman of the committee formulated some prayers for Mr Hien SIE as follows. "May Allah the Clement and the Merciful incline his gaze to his humility and may he always move forward"!

Professor Adama COULIBALY, Secretary General of Societé Mathematique de Côte d'Ivoire, representing the Minister Saliou TOURÉ, also expressed his gratitude to Mrs Mariatou KONE, Minister of National Education and Literacy, and also to the sponsor who spare no effort to back their initiatives towards promoting excellence. In her address, on behalf of the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority, Dr Titi PALE, Commercial, Marketing and Communication Director, justified the commitment of PAA to SMCI, which, through the Miss Mathematics competition, is celebrating female intelligence in this field, and aims at awakening a taste for mathematics among all the students of the country so as to ensure smooth succession for its development.

 Through the voice of Dr Titi PALE, the Managing Director of PAA has not failed to address his compliment to his illustrous eldest, the eminent Professor Saliou TOURÉ, CHAIRMAN of SMCI for his constant efforts for the promotion of mathematics, the mother of all sciences.

As a conclusion, the sponsor of this 18th edition of Miss Mathematics, through his representative, invited all his goddaughters to reconcile their intelligence with virtues as important as optimism, self-confidence and resilience.

Note that the competition tests of the Miss Mathematics Competition will take place on 04 May 2024 at Lycée Sainte Marie de Cocody and Lycée Mamie Adjoua de Yamoussokro.

The award ceremony will take place on July 2024.
