THE NETWORK OF MARITIME AND PORT WOMEN PROFESSIONALS: DR TITI PALE NEW CHAIRWOMAN.
Established in 2008 in Côte D’Ivoire at the instigation of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) with a view to promoting a balanced representation for women and men in the maritime transport industry, the Network of Maritime and Port Women Professionals include women from the Ports of Abidjan and San Pedro.
Mrs GUIHARD KOÎDIO Florentine who has chaired this association since 2010 and been appointed as Coordinator of the network in West and Central Africa since 2017, handed over reins of her missions on the national level to Dr Titi PALE, Commercial, Marketing and Communication Director in Abidjan Port Authority.
On Thursday 23 March 2023 at the Headquarter of Abidjan Port Authority, the transfer of authority took place in the presence of Mrs KESSIE Léontine, Assistant with rank of Deputy Director representing the Director of Administrative, legal Affairs and litigation and also in the presence of some women members of the local network.
The ceremony was the opportunity for Mrs GUIHARD to make a general presentation of the network, highlighting the objectives, the actions as well as prospects. She also gave the track record of her governance.
During her address, Dr Titi PALE congratulated the outgoing Chairwoman for the work done. She committed herself to boost the network according to the wishes of Mr Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director.
«I would do my best to raise the network, not only on the national level, but also on the international level. I can assure you that you would be proud of me. I will honour all of you and I rely on you to revitalize our network. I surely need your advice; I need to have you join me» she said.
For your information, the Network for Port and Maritime Women Professionals of West and Central Africa was created in January 2007 in Lagos (Nigeria) and established in Cotonou, in March of the same year by the International Maritime Organization. The Network is willing to be a driving force for the development of Port and Maritime activities in West and Central Africa.
Among others, it aims to build capacity of its members, the exchange of information, of competence and experiences among its members, the creation of Women experts and trainers on the international level as well as ensuring a better representation for women in decision making bodies.
