NEW CALL OF THE SH DIANA SHIP AT THE ABIDJAN PORT : A PROMISING MOMENTUM FOR THE CRUISE SEGMENT
The Abidjan Port Authority welcomed, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the cruise ship SH DIANA, a luxury liner operated by the British company Swan Hellenic, thereby confirming the growing interest of international operators in the Abidjan destination.
Measuring 125 meters in length and 24 meters in width, the SH DIANA is equipped with a PC6 polar class, enabling it to navigate in remote areas such as Antarctica and certain African coastlines.
This new call, recorded for the second consecutive year, forms part of the ongoing consolidation of the port’s positioning in the cruise segment.
During this stopover, the 244 passengers and crew members enjoyed excursion packages showcasing Côte d’Ivoire’s cultural and tourism heritage, notably through visits to the National Costume Museum of Grand-Bassam and the Bingerville Botanical Garden, offering an immersive cultural and natural experience. This combination of port activity and tourism offerings contributes to strengthening the overall attractiveness of the destination.
This call reflects the gradual rise of cruise traffic in Abidjan, supported by structuring investments aimed at improving reception capacities and service quality. It also illustrates the ability of the Abidjan Port Authority to position itself in high value-added segments, alongside its trade, transit, and transshipment activities.
Through this momentum, the Abidjan Port Authority reaffirms its ambition to develop sustainable partnerships with cruise operators in order to strengthen its attractiveness and consolidate its role as a leading port and logistics hub in West Africa.
