PARIS INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL SHOW: THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY ATTENDS THE 60TH SHOW
The 60th edition of the Paris International Agricultural Show (SIA) was launched on Saturday 24 February 2024 at the Parc des expositions de Paris, Porte de Versailles, in the presence of the President of the French Republic HEM. Emmanuel MACRON and a number of leading figures from the world of politics and agriculture.
The theme of this year's event is "Soil and Land: Life in our Hands", and it runs from Saturday 24 February to Sunday 3 March 2024.
As a major agricultural country, Côte d'Ivoire, through the Ministry of State, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources and the Ministry of Water and Forests, took part in that meeting of agricultural stakeholders. Côte d'Ivoire's participation in this show, which has become the hub of world agriculture, is intended not only to promote its achievements in this sector on the international stage, but also to share its experience with other agricultural powers.
As usual, the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) took part in that annual event to showcase the performance and opportunities of the Abidjan Port, the country's main maritime gateway and the leading tuna port in sub-Saharan Africa.
On Sunday 25 February 2024, the Côte d'Ivoire pavilion was officially opened by the Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Kobenan KOUASSI ADJOUMANI, the Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources, Mr. Sidy TOURÉ, and the Ambassador of Côte d'Ivoire to France, HEM. Maurice KACOU BANDAMA, in the presence of a delegation from PAA led by Mr. Bamoussa OUATTARA, Director of the Fishing Terminal.
For more than half a century, this international meeting has brought together professionals (breeders, producers, organisations and unions, ministries and public bodies, research institutes, etc.) to discuss developments and prospects in the agricultural and agri-food sector.
This 2024 edition would be highlighting the essential role played by farmers not only in ensuring food sovereignty, but also in feeding the population. The organisers aimed to present agriculture as being at the service of life, living beings and food.
Over the course of 9 days, the 60th edition of the show featured a series of professional and festive events, including workshops, conferences, animal competitions, etc., all highlighting the contribution of technological advances in environmentally-friendly farming practices, as well as responses to consumer needs.
One of the highlights of PAA's participation in the show was the conference given by Mr. Bamoussa OUATTARA on Monday 26 February 2024, to present the performance of the fishing terminal and, more generally, the assets of the Abidjan Port, which is reinventing itself after a decade of major infrastructure modernisation work.
