PARIS INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL SHOW: THE ABIDJAN PORT'S FISHING TERMINAL PRESENTS ITS INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The Abidjan Port Authority took part in the 60th International Agricultural Show, held at the Parc des Expositions in Paris from 24 February to 3 March 2024.
On the occasion of this meeting of the agricultural world, the Director of the Fishing Terminal of the Abidjan Port, Mr. Bamoussa OUATTARA, gave a lecture on Monday 26 February 2024, in the Pavilion dedicated to Côte d'Ivoire. Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority, spoke in the presence of a number of key figures. These included the Minister of Water and Forests, Mr. Laurent Tchagba, Ambassador Seydou Cissé, Permanent Representative of Côte d'Ivoire to the World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and IFAD, the President of the National Chamber of Agriculture, Mr. Sindou Bamba, and the representative of the Port of Lorient, Mr. Olivier Bardon. Several members of the Ivorian diaspora in France also attended the conference.
Mr. Bamoussa OUATTARA's presentation focused mainly on investment opportunities at the Fishing Terminal, with a particular emphasis on the fish trade, which involves buying fish products and then selling them on the market.
The aim of the director of the Fishing Terminal was to encourage Ivorians living in France to take an interest in this sector. While outlining the conditions under which this activity can be carried out in the Abidjan Port, he emphasised its highly lucrative nature.
The day's speaker also took the opportunity to present the major advances made by the Abidjan Port, after a decade of investment in major works that have totally transformed it and strengthened its competitiveness.
At the end of the presentation, like all the participants, the Ivorian Minister of Water and Forests expressed his satisfaction at the enormous potential of the Abidjan Port. He encouraged the Port Authority to pursue its development programme to ensure that the Abidjan Port remains one of the most efficient ports in Africa.
The Abidjan Fishing Terminal is a major centre of attraction and development for the Côte d'Ivoire fishing industry, handling some 922,000 tonnes of fish products in 2023. Thanks to the quality of its infrastructure and services, the terminal has made the Abidjan Port the leading tuna port in Africa, the leading producer of canned tuna in Africa and the world's 2nd largest exporter of tuna.
