THE PORT OF ABIDJAN AND THE MALIAN SHIPPERS’ COUNCIL COMMITTED TO ENHANCING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE ABIDJAN-BAMAKO CORRIDOR

A high-level delegation from the Malian Shippers’ Council (CMC), led by its President, Mr. BA Kissima SYLLA, paid a working visit to the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and boost trade relations between the Port of Abidjan and the CMC.

The Malian delegation was received by the Acting Managing Director of PAA, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, during a working session marked by constructive discussions on the commercial and logistical challenges linking the two institutions.

On this occasion, the President of the CMC extended his warm congratulations to the Acting Managing Director on his appointment and conveyed his best wishes for success in the performance of his duties. He also reaffirmed the CMC’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation with the Port of Abidjan in order to enhance the fluidity of trade, improve the competitiveness of the Abidjan-Bamako corridor, and contribute to the economic development of both Côte d’Ivoire and Mali.

Taking the floor, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ reiterated his commitment to strengthening cooperation with partner countries of the hinterland, particularly Mali, while emphasizing the strategic importance of the Abidjan-Bamako corridor in fostering sub-regional trade.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for consolidating cargo flows transiting through the Port of Abidjan, a major logistics platform serving the economies of the sub-region.

The visit concluded on an optimistic note, paving the way for a significant increase in trade between Côte d’Ivoire and Mali through the Port of Abidjan in the years ahead, within a context of continuously strengthening sub-regional economic integration.
