THE PORT OF ABIDJAN CELEBRATES: TWO SPORTS DAYS AHEAD OF THE OFFICIAL FESTIVITIES OF ITS 75TH ANNIVERSARY

In anticipation of the official ceremonies and activities marking the 75th anniversary of the Port of Abidjan—scheduled for September 11 and 12, 2025, under the High Patronage of His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire—the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), led by its Managing Director, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, organized two exceptional sports days on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the "Palais des Sports" in Treichville.

The first day, held under the sign of conviviality, featured the preliminary rounds of the maracana tournament, which brought together 28 teams representing the Ports of Abidjan and San Pedro as well as partner companies. The matches were intense and dynamic, marked by outstanding plays and an exemplary display of fair play.

Members of the PAA’s Management Committee were in attendance to encourage the institution’s teams and show their support to all participants.

After an enthusiastic first day, the success of the initiative was confirmed on Sunday, September 7, 2025, which was dedicated to a variety of sports and wellness activities. A cross-country run and a fitness walk attracted participants eager to take on the challenge of a route linking the PAA headquarters to the Palais des Sports in Treichville—an opportunity for them to display their stamina.

Fitness enthusiasts were also delighted by workout sessions led by professional coaches.

One of the highlights of these two days was the exhibition match between PAA executives, held just before the final of the maracana tournament. The grand finale was won by the team of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire, against the Port’s Special Gendarmerie by a score of  2-0.

Women’s teams were also in the spotlight with a dedicated mini-tournament that showcased the talent and passion of the female footballers from the Abidjan Port platform. The “Lionesses of the PAA” shone in the final, defeating the team of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire 2–0.

These two sports days highlighted the importance of physical activity in the daily lives of workers and strengthened bonds among the various actors of the Abidjan Port community.
