PORT COOPERATION: A GHANA PORTS AUTHORITY DELEGATION VISITS ABIDJAN PORT
A delegation from Ghana Ports Authority was in Côte d'Ivoire from November 4 to 6, 2024, as part of a training seminar.
Seizing this opportunity of their presence on the Ivorian soil, Mr. Michael LUGUJE, Managing Director of Ghana Ports Authority, led a delegation to visit Abidjan Port on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
This visit was warmly welcomed by Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority, who described it as an initiative that strengthens bilateral cooperation between Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, particularly between the ports of the two countries.
Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ took the opportunity to present to his guests the progress made by Abidjan Port over a decade of major infrastructure modernization projects, as well as the resulting operational and commercial performances.
“These modern infrastructures, which have transformed the configuration of the port, contribute to the dynamism of Côte d’Ivoire’s economy, under the leadership of His Excellency Alassane OUATTARA, the President of the Republic,” said Mr. SIÉ.
The Managing Director also unveiled future projects aimed at improving traffic flow within and around the port area and developing new high-value-added activities.
After discussions on various topics of mutual interest, the Ghanaian delegation was treated to a guided tour of the port facilities, including the Fishing Terminal, the Ro-Ro Terminal, and the Second Container Terminal (TC2).
