REVISION OF REGULATORY DOCUMENTS APPLICABLE TO ABIDJAN PORT’S OPERATIONS
Following the changes that occured these last years in the maritime and port industry, and in the light of the Abidjan Port’s estate in its new configuration, there was a need for the Port Authority to undertake reviews of the port’s operations .
Thus on 20 September 2023, the working committee set up for that purpose, reported the conclusions of its work.
These documents are meant to provide Abidjan Port with a regulatory framework adapted to the developments mentioned above, and to ensure management and operation in optimal conditions of safety, security, environmental protection,quality and performance .The conclusions have been presented during the working session to Colonel COFFI Yao Emmanuel,Director of Maritime Operations , Security and Environment ( DOMSE) ,to Mr TOURE Zoumana ,Director of the Port Estate, and to Mr DAH Sansan,Director of Administrative ,Legal and Contentious Affairs.
The documents were submitted to the Abidjan Port Authority’s Sectoral Directors by Mr KATCHE GNUI , Head of Operation,Administration and Logistic Support Departement at DOMSE, Spokesperson of the committee in the presence of the Commercial , Marketing and Communication Director ,Dr Titi PALE
All of the Directors acknowledged the quality and importance of these works aimed at improving the competitiveness of Abidjan Port.
These documents will be submitted for approval to Mr Hien Yacouba SIE ,Managing Director ,before being forwarded to the Ministry of Transport for validation.
Five instruments have been reviewed, namely the police regulations, operating regulations,the special status of harbor police and its annexes ,the organization of the pilotage stations of Ivoirian Ports and its annexes as well the scale of penalties.
Note that this working committee have been set up after the seminar on the Ivorian Port’s Competitiveness which took place in Grand Bassam from 14to 17 December and which proposed to recommend the revision of the regulatory legislation in force.
