SPANISH PATROL VESSEL "RELÁMPAGO" MAKES A STOPOVER AT ABIDJAN PORT

On Monday, April 28, 2025, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority granted an audience to, Mr. Jose RAMOS GARCÍA, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Spain in Côte d’Ivoire.

The purpose of the diplomat’s visit was to introduce the crew of the Spanish patrol vessel “RELÁMPAGO,” led by Corvette Captain MEIJUEIRO Morado, the ship’s commander.

Mr. Jose RAMOS GARCÍA praised the high level of safety and security at the Abidjan Port and emphasized that maritime security—including the fight against piracy, illicit trafficking, maritime terrorism, and arms proliferation—remains a priority for his country.

For his part, Corvette Captain MEIJUEIRO Morado appreciated the warm reception extended to his ship and congratulated the Abidjan Port Authority for the vibrancy of its port operations.

Grateful for Spain’s support in securing maritime activity in the Gulf of Guinea, Mr. Hien SIÉ underscored the excellent bilateral relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Spain and reassured his guests of all the necessary arrangements to ensure the success of this stopover.
