SPONSORSHIP OF THE PRIZE OF THE NATIONAL COMPETITION OF PHYSICS BY THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY
Initiated by Société Ivoirienne de Physique (SIPHYS) for the secondary and Higher Education, the 3rd Edition of the National Competition of Physics (CONAPHYS-2023) intended for pupils and students has been organized. This event reached its climax on Thursday 07 March 2024 during an award ceremony which took place at Université Félix Houphouet Boigny of Abidjan-Cocody. This ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Pr Adama DIAWARA and sponsored by the Minister of Equipment and Road Maintenance, Mr Amedé KOUAKOU.
Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) in his policy of promoting excellence, sponsored an award named "Hien Yacouba SIÉ" for bachelor degree. This prize was awarded to Mr DIABATE Mory student at Université Nangui Abrogoua of Abidjan. Just like the other winners, the happy prize winners received several prizes from Mr CHERIF Tiemoko PAA’s Director of Purchase and Stock Management, representing the Managing Director of PAA. The prizes included an envelope, a portable computer and a Certificate of participation.
The best female students have also been rewarded, in order to generate interest for physics and technology among the female gender.
While congratulating the winners, the Minister Amedé KOUAKOU expressed his enthusiasm generated by the competition. Anything which reflects among the learners the importance of science and technology in the development of nations.
Pr. Adama DIAWARA for his part, pointed out that Côte d'Ivoire which is willing, by the year 2030, to achieve the total transformation of raw materials in order to bring added value to the economy, would have to rely on Engineers and Technicans, Hence the need to pay particular attention to science and technology programs.
CONAPHYS 2023 rewarded 28 students from Junior high schools to senior high schools in sciences, and 3 students in preparatory classes and undergraduate students. Let's note that SIPHYS is an association all natural and legal persons concerned by physics as a whole and its applications. The association aims to promote physical sciences, healthy competition and inspire vocations among pupils and students so as to scout young talents with openness for innovation.
