TNPA_THE SOUTH AFRICAN GROUP POSPECTING AT ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY

On Tuesday 27 September 2022, Mr Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), granted an audience to a delegation of Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA).According to Mr Mzothule ZIKALALA, Managing Director of TNPA, Head of the delegation, the purpose of the visit was, not only to get acquainted with the modernization projects in Abidjan Port, but also to offer to the port Authority its expertise and assistance in the operation of port infrastructure, namely in dredging.

With its experience in this field, TNPA is involved in dredging operations in nine South African Ports with an annual capacity estimated at 4,5 million cubic meters (m3). Its other fields of expertise include geological and hydrographic forecasts in South Africa and the neighboring countries as well.

This canvassing visit coinciding with the recent launch of a call for tenders for the dredging and maintenance works of channels off the quays, the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority invited the South African Corporation to bid. Moreover, Mr Hien Yacouba SIÉ was delighted about the TNPA’S visit to Cote d’Ivoire, mainly to its Institution, which is a clear evidence of the good relations between South Africa and Cote d’Ivoire. He also reassured his guests that Abidjan Port Authority was open to any proposal likely to accelerate its development.

The meeting was followed by a guided tour of the port platform by the South African delegation.
