TRIPARTITE MEETING BETWEEN THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY, CUSTOMS AND THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF CÔTE D'IVOIRE
On Tuesday 1 October 2024, representatives of the Ivorian Customs Service and the Côte d'Ivoire Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-CI) met with the Top Management of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) to discuss the installation of customs weighbridges on the quays of the Abidjan Port as part of a project to electronically handle unloaded bulk goods.
The tripartite working meeting was chaired by the PAA's Managing Director, Hien Yacouba SIÉ, and was aimed to reconcile the positions of the three institutions in order to facilitate the installation of those weighing platforms.
During that initial meeting, in which Colonel Léopold AKE, Technical Advisor representing the Director General of Ivorian Customs, and Mr. Yaya DIARRA, representing the CCI-CI, took part, the arrangements for pooling the new weighing machines to be installed and those already in place in the port, were discussed in order to limit any inconvenience to port operations, particularly traffic on the quays and handling.
Accordingly, the three parties decided to improve coordination around the project through technical meetings to enable the customs administration to better implement the government's economic policy and in particular customs procedures at the Abidjan Port.
