A VESSEL OF MORE THAN 300 METRES IN LENGTH HANDLED IN ABIDJAN PORT
As promised by Mr Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority during the inauguration of the widened and deepened Vridi Canal as regards the call of new generation vessels in Abidjan Port, two big size containerships called at the Port :
The first MSC DYMPHNA containership, 275 metres in length called at the port on 31st May 2019, and was followed by another containership, MSC MELISSA of 304 metres long with a loading capacity of 7000 containers which arrived at the 23-24 docks on Thursday 1st April 2021.
Mr Amadou KONE, Minister of Transport, accompanied by Mr Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority and his management team visited the vessel, together with Mr Fabio POLITI, Director General of MSC Côte d’Ivoire and Mrs Asta-Rosa CISSE, Director General of Abidjan Terminal.
All of them expressed appreciation of this special event and their confidence about the Abidjan Port’s capacity to handle from now and on, in the best conditions, the biggest vessels sailing along the African coasts.
