VISIT OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF CÔTE D'IVOIRE TO THE PORT OF ABIDJAN: A DIVE INTO THE HEART OF THIS ECONOMIC INFRASTRUCTURE

The National Youth Council of Côte d'Ivoire (CNJ-CI) organized a visit to the Port of Abidjan, a strategic hub in West Africa. This event brought together young leaders, members of associations and students, all eager to better understand the economic, social and environmental issues of this catalyst of the national and sub-regional economy.

This visit, which was held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, allowed participants to discover the different facets of this important maritime hub.

The young people had the opportunity to discuss at the start of their visit, with the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, on the infrastructure, equipment, operation of the Port of Abidjan, the services provided, the challenges facing the Port platform of Abidjan, as well as the development prospects of this infrastructure which contributes to the influence of the Ivorian economy.

During the meeting, the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority who was delighted with this visit, indicated to these young people, that being the future of the nation, it is therefore essential for them to be well informed of the issues facing the economic sector of Côte d'Ivoire.

He also invited them to show more commitment in favor of a prosperous and inclusive Côte d'Ivoire.

During their speeches, Mr. Mamadou DIALLO, Miss Blandine ANGBAKO, Mr. Ben Aziz KONATÉ and Mr. DIABATÉ Ibrahim, respectively Spokesperson for the delegates of the University of Côte d'Ivoire, President of the Liberal Youth of Côte d'Ivoire, President of the Young Entrepreneurs of Côte d'Ivoire and President of the National Youth Council of Côte d'Ivoire, took turns to praise the leadership of the Chief Executive of Abidjan Port Authority as well as his commitment to young people.

The participants visited several strategic areas of the port of Abidjan, including the two Container Terminals, the Roro Terminal and the Grain Terminal. Presentations on the management of goods flows, port security and technological innovations enriched their understanding of logistics issues.

This visit not only allowed the youth to acquire valuable knowledge, but it also strengthened their commitment to the economic development of Côte d’Ivoire.

In conclusion, the visit of the members of the National Youth Council of Côte d’Ivoire was an enriching experience, demonstrating the importance of training the next generation of decision-makers to meet the economic challenges of tomorrow.

This initiative also highlights the key role of young people in building a more prosperous future for Côte d’Ivoire.
