THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY AND APACI DISCUSS THE CHALLENGES FACING THE STEEL INDUSTRY

The Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORE, received in audience on Monday, July 6, 2026, a delegation from the Association des Producteurs d’Acier en Côte d’Ivoire - Steel producers -  (APACI), led by its President, Mr. Ahmed MUHEDDINE.

The courtesy visit provided an opportunity for APACI officials to congratulate the Managing Director on his appointment, while presenting the association’s missions and development prospects.

During the discussions, the President of APACI highlighted the strategic role of the Port of Abidjan in the steel industry’s logistics chain. He emphasized that the port platform serves as an entry point and redistribution hub for steel products to several markets in the sub-region, thereby strengthening its position as a major logistics hub in West Africa.

The discussions also focused on strengthening the competitiveness of the logistics chain, improving the fluidity of port operations, and supporting the development of the steel industry.

The Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority reaffirmed the PAA’s commitment to maintaining ongoing dialogue with economic stakeholders and supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the performance of the port platform, for the sake of the competitiveness of the steel industry and the development of the national economy.
