2023 EXPERTIZ PUBLIC EXPO: FOCUS ON ABIDJAN PORT’S DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

On Friday 07July 2023, second day of the 1st Edition of ‘’ Expertiz Public Expo ‘’, Mr FALLY Stéphane, Head of Department of Studies and Major projects in Abidjan Port Authority, representing Mr Hien Yacouba SIÉ made an intervention to the panel. He mainly addressed the issue of strategy for wharf specialization implemented by the Port Authority for optimizing exportation and commercial operation on the Abidjan Port’s platform.

Thus he made a presentation of the major works carried out since 2012 with the support of the government in order to make Abidjan Port more competitive. Indeed, at least, 1100 billion CFAF have been mobilized as part of the modernization of infrastructure and superstructure of the port platform and which enabled to build the Fishing Terminal, to widen and deepen the Vridi Canal to construct the RO-RO Terminal, the second Container Terminal, to refill the Vridi Biétry Lagoon Bay and build the Grain Terminal.                             

All these structuring projects having been carried out with the purpose of making Abidjan Port a vital Hub on the Atlantic Coast of Africa, he indicated.                                                                                                 

Mr FALLY put an emphasis on the improvement of port service which he presented as a big challenge, after the commissioning of the new port terminals with a view to capitalizing on the achievements of Abidjan Port.

Thus he expressed his joy over the upgrading project of the port road network launched with the support of the state of Côte-D’Ivoire and donors. Moreover, he called for the implementation of other projects which will ease the congestion within the port area as well as in the city of Abidjan as a whole; the most important of these projects are:   

The construction project of a bridge connecting Vridi (Zimbabwe) to Marcory (Boulevard de Marseille).

The Vridi Canal’s Crossing project with the construction of a tunnel extended by a by- pass road which would enable a connection  to the Highway ‘’ Autoroute du Nord ‘’ via the towns of Jacqueville and Songon (Y4).

Started on 6 July 2023, the 1st edition of ‘’Expertiz Public Expo’’ which took place under the theme: “The continuous improvement of the provision of conceded public services, a citizen service requirement”; closed its doors on Friday 07 July 2023 at “Palais de la Culture d’Abidjan”.

According to the organizers including Mr Abdel NOUHO, Director General of ’’ Fraternité Matin Groupe’’ and Mr Ange Tra Bi, Head of  “Expertise Locale’’, the aim was to enable the General Public to better know the public service delegated companies through their mission and solutions that they develop to meet the requirements of their clients/users.

In Côte d’Ivoire, His Excellency Alassane Ouattara President of  the Republic has made the continuous improvement of public service, the major focus of his ambitious program  “La Côte d’Ivoire Solidaire ‘’ - A United Côte d’Ivoire - for the full potential of the people.
