PORT COOPERATION: ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY AND THE UNITED STATES EXPLORE NEW PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORE, received H.E. Mr. Ibrahima TOURÉ, Ambassador of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to the United States, for a courtesy visit on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the institution’s headquarters.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two officials to discuss prospects for strengthening economic cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and the United States, with particular emphasis on developing strategic partnerships for the benefit of the Abidjan Port Authority.

During the discussions, H.E. Mr. Ibrahima TOURÉ stressed the importance of bringing American investors closer to Abidjan Port, which he described as a leading port and logistics platform in West Africa. He notably referred to the proposed twinning agreement between the Port of South Louisiana and the Abidjan Port Authority, noting that it would provide a valuable framework for sharing expertise, expanding trade and attracting new investment.

The Managing Director of PAA welcomed the initiative and expressed his interest in this cooperation project, which would help strengthen port-to-port relations between the two countries while fostering technical, economic and commercial partnerships.

The visit reflects the shared commitment of both parties to deepening relations between the Abidjan Port Authority and American partners, as part of a sustainable cooperation framework focused on the development of port infrastructure, enhancing the competitiveness of the Abidjan port platform, and strengthening economic ties between Côte d’Ivoire and the United States.
