STRATEGIC DIALOGUE: PAA AND SEMPA COMMITTED TO EVER-GREATER PORT HANDLING PERFORMANCE
As part of its policy of continuous consultation with stakeholders of the Abidjan Port Community (CPA), the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, who also serves as President of the CPA, received in audience, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, a delegation from the Union of Stevedoring Companies of the Ports of Abidjan and San Pedro (SEMPA), led by its President, Mrs. Asta-Rosa CISSÉ.
This meeting forms part of the PAA’s commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue with all links of the port logistics chain in order to strengthen the competitiveness, efficiency, and quality of services provided on the Port of Abidjan platform.
On this occasion, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ commended the commitment of stevedoring companies and their decisive contribution to the development of port activities. He highlighted the strategic role played by SEMPA in ensuring the smooth execution of vessel loading and unloading operations, which are essential to the fluidity of port traffic.
Speaking on behalf of the union, Mrs. Asta-Rosa CISSÉ presented the concerns and expectations of member companies in a context marked by sustained growth in trade flows and evolving operational requirements. She notably outlined several challenges facing port handling operations and reaffirmed SEMPA’s willingness to work alongside the Port Authority in identifying sustainable solutions.
The discussions provided an opportunity to examine several issues of common interest and to identify avenues for the continuous improvement of the port platform’s performance.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Managing Director of PAA reaffirmed the Port Authority’s attention to the concerns raised and encouraged stevedoring companies to continue this spirit of dialogue and collaboration, which remains essential to consolidating the Port of Abidjan’s position as a leading logistics and maritime hub in West Africa.
