ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY: THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY AND IRAN DISCUSS PROSPECTS FOR PORT COOPERATION

The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORE, received, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, H.E. Mr. Seyed Gholamreza MEIGONI, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Côte d’Ivoire.

The courtesy visit provided an opportunity for the two officials to discuss matters of mutual interest, including prospects for port cooperation and the development of economic exchanges between Côte d’Ivoire and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the discussions, the Iranian Ambassador commended the performance of the Port of Abidjan, its strategic position in West Africa and its role as a leading logistics platform in the sub-region. He expressed his desire to see relations between institutions in the two countries further strengthened through constructive dialogue and the development of mutually beneficial partnerships.

Speaking in turn, the Managing Director of PAA presented the key strengths of the Abidjan port platform, the major investments undertaken in recent years and the many opportunities it offers economic operators and international investors. He reaffirmed the Abidjan Port Authority’s readiness to develop cooperative relations with all its partners, in line with the strategic directions set by Côte d’Ivoire’s highest authorities.

The meeting reflects the shared commitment of both parties to maintaining open dialogue and exploring opportunities that could contribute to strengthening economic relations between Côte d’Ivoire and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
