As part of its continuous improvement policy and its commitment to protecting everyone working within its port platform, the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) is continuing to implement its Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), in accordance with the requirements of the international ISO 45001 standard.

This approach reflects the PAA’s determination to place occupational risk prevention at the heart of its operations over the long term, by strengthening the management of risks associated with port activities, improving working conditions and fostering a genuine safety culture. It is being implemented in an environment where operational requirements call for constant vigilance and the active involvement of all stakeholders operating within the Abidjan port platform.

As part of this initiative, awareness sessions have helped staff gain a stronger understanding and ownership of the requirements of ISO 45001, particularly with regard to risk prevention, individual responsibilities and continuous improvement. They have also encouraged constructive dialogue with co-workers, whose observations and concerns contribute to the ongoing improvement of the occupational health and safety management system.

Beyond its own workforce, this policy benefits all stakeholders operating within the Abidjan port platform. By consolidating its occupational health and safety management system, the Abidjan Port Authority aims to provide an increasingly safe, high-performing working environment that complies with international standards, for the benefit of its partners, users and the entire port community.

Through its ISO 45001 certification process, the Abidjan Port Authority reaffirms its ambition to make occupational health and safety a driver of sustainable performance, competitiveness and trust, in line with its Integrated Management System policy and its vision of a modern, responsible port platform firmly committed to excellence.
