IVOIRIAN-INDIAN COOPERATION: THE PORT OF ABIDJAN WELCOMES A DELEGATION FROM THE NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE OF NEW DELHI

As part of a study visit to Côte d’Ivoire from June 1 to 5, 2026, a high-level delegation from the National Defence College (NDC) of New Delhi, led by Major General Hartej Singh BAJAJ, Senior Directing Staff, visited the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

This mission forms part of efforts to strengthen academic, diplomatic, and strategic exchanges between the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and the Republic of India.

On this occasion, the delegation was received by the Managing Director General of the Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, accompanied by several members of the Executive Committee.

Discussions focused in particular on the modernization projects undertaken by the Port of Abidjan, its role as a strategic platform for international maritime trade, and its contribution to the economic development of Côte d’Ivoire and the West African hinterland.

During the institutional presentation delivered to them, the visitors were able to appreciate the significant transformations carried out on the port platform in recent years, both in terms of infrastructure and port safety and security. They also commended the vision of the Ivorian authorities aimed at sustainably strengthening the competitiveness of the Port of Abidjan and supporting the country’s economic growth.

The visit also provided a valuable opportunity for experience sharing and discussions on prospects for cooperation in areas of common interest.

Through the interest shown by this prestigious Indian strategic training institution, the Abidjan Port Authority reaffirms its status as a leading logistics hub in West Africa and as a reliable partner for international exchanges and cooperation.
